Pharmacy Technician Basics

Students develop an understanding of the basic skills necessary for employment as a Pharmacy Technician. The history of medicine relating to pharmacy including specific laws and regulations will be discussed. Students will also learn drug/dosage calculations, conversions, classifications, sig codes and pharmacy terminology. Drug referencing and prescription processing will be included. Over the counter and complementary medications will also be the focus of this course. As students learn the generic and brand names of medications, students also learn aseptic techniques and standard precautions within the job description of a Pharmacy Technician. Throughout this 240 hour course, the importance of professional communication within the workplace while focusing on ethical behaviors will be included. Show More

This program has tutoring available. Trinity offers several approaches to tutoring to ensure that students have options that fit their learning needs including lab-based, one-one-one, small group, and online. Tutoring services are at no cost to currently enrolled students.
